Joint Targeted Area Inspections
Access the guidance on Joint Targeted Area Inspections here.
Joint Targeted Area Inspections are in addition to, not instead of, existing single agency inspection processes.
These are thematic inspections which explore the quality of “Front Door” services, such as MASH, DV triage and Early help duty desk and there are specific inspection criteria for this.
In addition, inspections are thematic with a set of criteria for each theme. The first theme was Child Sexual Exploitation, the current theme is Domestic Violence and the next will be Neglect. Each theme has an associated set of inspection criteria.
There are therefore 2 sets of guidance documents, one about the front door, and one about the theme. Partners should be aware that all four inspectorates will be involved in inspecting both areas together.
Four inspectorates, Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary (HMIC), Her Majesty’s Inspector of Prisons, (HMP) Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Ofsted, will visit the Local Authority area unannounced.
As well as examining cases in the Local authority, there will be an immediate requirement to carry out a multi-agency case audit with a multi-agency evaluation report expected within 5 days of the start of the inspection.
Each inspector will require a specified set of documents from each partner and these are clearly stipulated in the guidance.
Inspectors will also meet with partner leads, practitioners and children and young people throughout the inspection.
